So now I am just living with my condition. I have been during physical therapy for over a year now and I am not sure if it helping. I have done land and water physical therapy at multiple locations. I feel like my condition has gotten worse as things I use to could do for myself I no longer can. I have seen a neurologist who has done nerve testing with no issues. I was then referred by them to Kennedy Krieger Institute muscle disorder clinic (which is a great facility) They have done MRI's, ecographs, and genetic testing. The genetic testing yielded no results. I have also seen a rheumatologist who did a muscle biopsy, MRI's and put me on medicine protocol. None of which worked or helped my condition. Both of them including my primary doctor has done countless blood work but nothing is giving them a clear diagnosis. The specialist at Kennedy Krieger as well as my primary care doctor believe that my muscles are in fact inflamed even though it did not show up in my muscle biopsy. They think the area that the physician biopsied wasn't inflamed but that it didn't mean that for the rest of the muscle. Since I have given the doctors their run and let them do their testing and have tried their treatment plans I think its now time for me to take a different approach. Recently a friend of my husband reached out to me with an option to try manual lymphatic drainage massage. This method is a medical message that focuses on the lymphatic system and using the massage techniques to release the toxins and excess fluid from the body. In addition to the massages it requires me to change my diet and do some light physical activity. I am also going to incorporate spiritual exercises as well. I believe this process is called a holistic approach which focuses on healing the body from the inside out. So for the next 40 days I am going to restrict my diet, focus on spiritual health and add some light exercise. I have to try something and do more and take an active role in trying to improve my condition.
